(Listen to "Convenient")
Convenient
A little too convenient, a
kick in the gut
I’m trying to be lenient
with reactionary cuts
But isn’t timing
perfect? Isn’t it so comic?
Isn’t this all worth it just
to prove that life’s ironic?
We were on an upswing, our
energies converging
A couple again coupling, our
faith was re-emerging
Attempting with intention to
regain what we’d misplaced
When a gentlemanly henchman
went and brained you with his mace
Of course I’ll always trust you, you’ve been nothing if not honest
But I can’t say I’ll adjust
to this new bee inside your bonnet
We’ve been taking turns in leaving, only this I might regret.
If you don’t return, believe
me, I never will forget.
It’s true this tale has cost
me a bellyful of pain
But even if you’ve lost me,
just think of what we’ve gained.
Go forth with my blessing,
fellow being of light
But for my health I’m
guessing that this is all I’ll write.
