(Listen to "Doubletime Rhyming")

Doubletime Rhyming (for kids)

A poem that runs with double-time rhyming

Or maybe it’s one with double-rhyme timing

It might tell a tale, or set up a joke

About night-time in jail, or a window that broke

But what if it’s sad, or just isn’t funny?

Does that make it bad, not worth any money?

But money’s not really what a joker is after

It might sound quite silly-- what he wants is laughter

So he makes himself fall, then gets up again,

And he makes himself tall, and then starts to bend

Because poetry’s fun—it’s playing with words

But now this poem’s done—or hadn’t you heard?
