Small Talk
Spinning idle dialogue in
the vortex of biography
History and travelogue, the
four next sights I mean to see
Filling lungs and setting
sail on the High Seas of Recounting
Wagging tongues and chasing
tail: Relevance fees are mounting
Lubricating interactions,
pre-recorded testimony
Tact evading lax attraction,
cheap insurance for the lonely
Silence is golden but ever
so rare
It’ll never get old ‘cause
it’s so seldom there
So celebrate a syllable but
don’t mince the meaning
Empty space is fillable but
lately since I’m leaning
Toward reserving
presentation until content with content
I’m preserving resignation
with nil defense of nonsense
With that I will now take my
leave, walk away, retract support
For I will never find
reprieve until small talk’s a contact sport.
